3G iPHONE THIS SUMMER

In what is likely to be the world’s worst kept secret since J-Lo got pregnant, with the news that Steve Jobs is to give the keynote speech at this year’s Apple Worldwide Developers Conference and the iPhone is top of the list of subjects, we are almost certain to see the long-awaited 3G iPhone this summer.

Quite why this is such a big deal was summed up almost instantaneously at the news of the original iPhone. What is the market leader in terms of technological advance in the handheld cellular world has one major flaw - no 3G. To put it in layman’s terms the Internet connection on the iPhone (without the use of Wi-fi) is ridiculously slow.

So right from the moment the iPhone was launched, tech-heads everywhere have been waiting for its successor, and now it seems we are only a month away from its unveiling. With phone company bosses across Europe confirming the news, it’s now left to Apple’s main man to tell us exactly how good it is. Let’s hope it lives up to the extremely high billing.

KILLING PLEO

Last Christmas Pleo was the must have gadget of the year. For those who don’t know it’s an extremely high-tech toy, a robotic dinosaur designed to emulate the appearance and behavior of a week-old baby Camarasaurus (wiki).

As such the guys over at Dvice decided to put it through its paces. By trying to kill it. Hilarious. Check it out here.

PHOTOSHOP DISASTERS

photshop_cs3.jpgIn recent years Adobe’s Photoshop has achieved that unique status of becoming a generic name, in this case for anything that involves ‘touching up’ a picture (it’s hard to write that without imagining Russell Brand saying it and making some dirty connotation).

Anyways, generally in life now if we see an image of, for instance, a model that looks like it has been digitally altered, we often claimed it to be ‘Photoshopped’. Much like the Hoover, Walkman, Jacuzzi and other brand names (nothing to do with Russell) that have achieved this status over the years, Adobe must be pleased. Of course, though, with such mass cultural appeal you do get some truly awful examples of Photoshop being used in all manner of awful and unnecessary ways.

On that theme, here’s a funny site (via) that shows some of the best Photoshop mistakes. Well worth a look.
