The Internet put to very simple but effective use…
Following on from our post about the excellent Red Cross campaign that makes great use of the Internet as an advertising platform we had to bring you this other fantastic example (via).
The Girl Effect has a very simple message portrayed through a video (on YouTube) and a really moving website. Simple yes, but oh so effective.
Water must be a hard thing to sell. At the end of the day even if you have enough money to waste it on bottled water, you surely can’t be picky enough to be able to tell the difference between the taste of each brand.
Which of course is an advertising executive’s (wet) dream. With such little difference - aside from size of bottle and price - between each product, there is essentially only one thing that sells bottled water: the branding.
Aside from Evian’s unique and colourful bottles no company has really captured the mass market in this respect, until now. Enter Drench from Britvic, a more youthful looking product, with a fantastic TV advertising campaign featuring a dancing Brains from Thunderbirds. It is so good that is almost makes you forget it’s only a bottle of water.
The reason for missing a few posts lately…
Just flicking through the various downloads for Mac OS X (of which there are now hundreds of great little dashboard widgets and other things), we stumbled across Gunfighter, a neat little online strategy game.
This isn’t normal our type of thing – the last strategy game we played was Command & Conquer Red Alert or maybe the excellent Commandos – but having given it a go we are totally hooked.
Don’t expect any flashy graphics though, Gunfighter (at Wild West Online) is a simple one vs one duel between two cowboys. You pick your character and various moves that gain either accuracy or energy ratings, stand off against each other and shoot only when fully prepared, and battle it out with your opponent until one of you loses all your health.
It is a very simple premise, and as the game is in its early stages there’s a lot more work to be done, but it is still highly addictive. Like a lot of games, iIt installs a small application on your mac which links to the website, reducing the bandwidth used to play, which is neat too. Currently Gunfighter works only on Safari on the Mac, there is also a Windows version available.
