The reason for missing a few posts lately…
Just flicking through the various downloads for Mac OS X (of which there are now hundreds of great little dashboard widgets and other things), we stumbled across Gunfighter, a neat little online strategy game.
This isn’t normal our type of thing – the last strategy game we played was Command & Conquer Red Alert or maybe the excellent Commandos – but having given it a go we are totally hooked.
Don’t expect any flashy graphics though, Gunfighter (at Wild West Online) is a simple one vs one duel between two cowboys. You pick your character and various moves that gain either accuracy or energy ratings, stand off against each other and shoot only when fully prepared, and battle it out with your opponent until one of you loses all your health.
It is a very simple premise, and as the game is in its early stages there’s a lot more work to be done, but it is still highly addictive. Like a lot of games, iIt installs a small application on your mac which links to the website, reducing the bandwidth used to play, which is neat too. Currently Gunfighter works only on Safari on the Mac, there is also a Windows version available.
